Vineyard

Bodegas Señorío de Aldea has 12 ha of vineyard in smallholdings, some are owned by the winery and some others rented. This land is distributed in different payments of which 70% are old and small plots whose average age is close to 100 years, with pre-phylloxera vines that exceed the 150 years old.

Our vineyards are planted in glass, thus avoiding excessive water losses. All of them are located east of the Denomination of Origin Ribera del Duero and distributed within the towns of Aldea, Peñalba, Atauta, Quintanilla and San Esteban de Gormaz, capital of the Ribera del Duero soriana.

We have a great variety of lands with diverse microclimates with an average altitude of 870 meters above sea level, the climate of the area is severe continental, with cold winters characterized by frosts and hot and very dry summers with severe thermal oscillations between day and night. These extreme characteristics of the different terroirs mark the character of the vines and, ultimately, of our wines.

The varieties present are the Tempranillo or Tinta del País, which represents 85% of the total, presenting Garnacha and Albillo intermingled with the first as a sample of the intention with which they were planted by our ancestors, to elaborate artisan claret for their own consumption.
